2012 Polaris Ranger RZR XP900 (Indy Red)

2012 Polaris RANGER RZR Line Up

Since the introduction of the RANGER RZR 800 in 2008, Polaris has continued to evolve its RANGER RZR line by aggressively launching new models for every
recreational segment. Model year 2009 saw the only-sport RANGER RZR S 800 and 2010 the only 4-seat performance sport Side-by-Side, the RANGER RZR 4 800.

This past January, Polaris upped the ante again with the introduction of the only-Xtreme performance Side-by-Side, the RANGER RZR XP 900. For 2012, the company will make upgrades to the RANGER RZR 800, RANGER RZR S 800, RANGER RZR 4 800 and RANGER RZR XP 900 to make the line even more razor sharp.

The newest member of the RANGER RZR family, the RANGER RZR XP 900, introduced the industry to a whole new class of Side x Side that took the ultimate combination of power, suspension and agility to the extreme. The RANGER RZR XP 900 will continue to offer all of the aspects that make it the most extreme performing Side-by-Side on the market; 900 Twin DOHC Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) engine, 3-Link Trailing Arm Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) with 13-inches of ground clearance and 14-inches of travel, and a light vehicle weight with a low center of gravity for unmatched cornering with the addition of few upgrades for 2012 to give the unit even more extreme performance. For quick suspension adjustments, the Fox 2.0 shocks feature new, convenient compression adjustment knobs for tool-less tuning. To reduce driveline noise, the unit has a new, rubber isolated prop shaft. For less steering effort and increased maneuverability at slow speeds, Polaris redesigned the front suspension geometry. In the cab, all units feature a new passenger grab bar tube with an anti-rattle bushing for reduced noise.

The Only Trail RANGER RZR 800, Only Sport Performance RANGER RZR S 800 and Only 4-Seat Sport RANGER RZR 4 800 also will see improvements for 2012
including the new grab bar, improved cockpit fit and finish to reduce dust and heat on the operator, a front drive cage made from zinc for added durability, a durable dual clutch inlet for low and high speed cooling, and a 33-percent thicker skid plate. The RANGER RZR 800 also will receive a rubber jounce bumper in the shock assembly for improved durability and the RANGER RZR 4 800 also will feature the improved Fox 2.0 adjustable shocks with compression adjustable knobs.

All RANGER RZRs are available in Indy Red as a standard color, with the RANGER RZR 800 also available in Polaris Pursuit Camo. Limited Edition models include White Lightning with Red Rally Accents, Magnetic Metallic and Boardwalk Blue with electronic power steering for the RANGER RZR 800; White/Orange Madness and Liquid Silver/Red for the RANGER RZR S 800, both featuring Fox Shocks, back by popular demand; White/Orange Madness Robby Gordon with electronic power steering for the RANGER RZR 4 800; and White Lightning and Orange Madness for the RANGER RZR XP 900.

2012 Polaris RANGER Utility Side-by-Sides

The RANGER line, with its flagship RANGER XP 800 model, continues to be the
leading Side-by-Side brand in the world due to hardest working attributes such as powerful engines, On-Demand True All-Wheel drive, monstrous towing and large dump boxes coupled with smoothest riding features such as Independent Rear Suspension, high ground clearance and superior ergonomics.

For Model Year 2012, Polaris continues to build on the success of the RANGER
brand with the addition of the Polaris Engine Braking System (EBS) on the RANGER HD 800 and the introduction of the new RANGER CREW Diesel.

The RANGER HD 800 is the pure utility work horse of the RANGER full-size line
with its self-leveling, Nivomat® rear shocks, Electronic Power Steering and all the attributes that made RANGER the Hardest Working, Smoothest Riding vehicles on the market. For 2012, the RANGER HD 800 brings the addition of Polaris’ Engine Braking System (EBS) to make it work even harder. The Polaris EBS controls downhill braking to give you optimum control and smooth, even deceleration during descents, making carrying large loads even easier. For 2012, the RANGER HD 800 will be available in Sage Green.

Other full-size models offered for 2012 include the RANGER XP 800 in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris® Pursuit Camo; the RANGER XP 800 EPS in Sage Green and Solar Red; the RANGER Diesel in Sage Green; and the RANGER 6x6 800 in Sage Green and Solar Red. The RANGER XP 800 Limited Editions include Magnetic Metallic, Pearl White, Boardwalk Blue and the first-ever RANGER XP 800 with a shock package, the RANGER XP 800 Walker Evans edition. The RANGER XP 800

EPS Limited Editions include Sunset Red and Browning Edition Pursuit. In 2011, Polaris entered the diesel Side by Side segment, with the introduction of the new RANGER Diesel. The RANGER Diesel shared the same full-size chassis
as the RANGER XP 800 with the same attributes that made the RANGER line the hardest working, smoothest riding vehicles on the market. For 2012, Polaris is introducing its second diesel model and third vehicle to its multi-passenger line up, the RANGER CREW Diesel.

The RANGER CREW Diesel shares the same 904cc, three-cylinder YANMAR® diesel engine as the RANGER Diesel, with the ability to carry six adults in total comfort. The engine is rubber-mounted to transfer minimal vibration to the operator, and provides low-speed torque to work harder. The fully-sealed, fixed center distance clutch driveline keeps water out of the clutches and provides better performance than competitive models.

RANGER CREW Diesel’s work ethic also includes a 55 amp alternator that gives the operator the ability to run many hard working, higher electrical load accessories, such as plows, extra lights, cab heaters and fans at the same time. It boasts a monstrous one-ton towing to tackle the toughest jobs and comes standard with a 2-inch hitch receiver to tow accessories with ease. Its 1,000 lb/454.5 kg capacity rear dump box has gas-assist dumping operation and accommodates many hardworking PURE Polaris accessories that go on and off in seconds.

RANGER Side-by-Sides are known to be the Smoothest Riding vehicles on the market and the RANGER CREW Diesel is no exception. Its long wheelbase
combined with its fully-adjustable suspension creates a very smooth ride, even when fully-loaded. The vehicle’s suspension is the only four-corner adjustable suspension system that features Dual A-Arms with exclusive top-mounting-point adjustability. For recreational riding, the user can adjust to a softer setting or adjust stiffer for heavy-duty work. With a suspension travel of 9.6 in/24.4 cm up front, 9 in/22.9 cm in the rear and a ground clearance of 11.5 in/29.2 cm, the RANGER CREW Diesel provides a very comfortable ride.

To complement the suspension and travel, the RANGER CREW Diesel features On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive with VersaTrac that keeps you moving, automatically engaging all four wheels when you need more forward traction and reverting back to two-wheel drive when you don’t. When in two-wheel drive, the VersaTrac Turf Mode switch unlocks the rear differential for easier, tighter turns that won’t tear up the grass.

Inside the cab, the vehicle has the ability to carry six adults comfortably due to its superior comfort and ergonomics, including a slide-through cab design for easy entrance and exit that also provides lots of legroom. Leaned seatbacks provide extra comfort during travel and 10-inches/25.4 cm of tilt steering-travel provides plenty of steering wheel position options for the driver.

For 2012, The RANGER CREW Diesel will be available in Sage Green.
Other multi-passenger models not mentioned above include the RANGER CREW
800 in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris® Pursuit Camo with EPS and a
Sandstone Limited Edition EPS model, and the RANGER CREW 500 in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris® Pursuit Camo, with a RANGER CREW 500 Turbo Silver Limited Edition Model. Polaris will continue to offer the RANGER 500 EFI, RANGER 400 and RANGER EV midsize vehicles for 2012. The RANGER 500 EFI and RANGER 400 will be available in Sage Green, Solar Red and Polaris® Pursuit Camo, with a RANGER 500 EFI Sunset Red Limited Edition Model. The RANGER EV will be available in Boardwalk Blue and Polaris® Pursuit Camo.

The NEW for 2012 Polaris Ranger RZR 570

Polaris Introduces Another New Member of the RANGER RZR Family New RANGER RZR 570 is second trail-capable offering

Since 2008, Polaris has introduced a new RANGER RZR model every year and Model Year 2012 will be no different, introducing the new RANGER RZR 570, the second trail-capable side-by-side in the RANGER RZR family. Priced at $9,999, the single-cylinder unit offers a value trail machine that stays true to the RANGER RZR family promise of being the ultimate combination of power, suspension and agility.

“The launch of the RANGER RZR 800 introduced the industry to the first trail-capable Side-by-Side,” said Matt Homan, vice president and general manager of Polaris’ Off-Road Division. “With the success of the RANGER RZR 800, we saw the need for a single-cylinder model at a price point that will allow more customers to enter the trail-capable Side-by-Side segment.”

At the heart of the RANGER RZR 570 is an all-new ProStar™ 570 single cylinder, DOHC, electronic fuel injected engine. The engine is the second in the ProStar family, made specifically for Side-by-Side vehicles, which also includes the ProStar 900 introduced earlier this year in the RANGER RZR XP 900. The ProStar 570 has 650 watts of stator output and features a removable cargo bed floor and a wet sump for easy serviceability.

To complement the new engine, Polaris equipped the RANGER RZR 570 with a new transmission that was specifically built to optimize the power of the new ProStar engine. Its optimized gear geometry means more power to the ground, less driveline noise and lighter weight. The innovative design, first featured on the RANGER RZR XP 900, features a helical cut final drive with high torque capacity to maximize efficiency.

To tackle the rugged trail, the RANGER RZR 570 features an all-new, ultra smooth Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) with specifically-designed geometry that provides 9.5-inches of travel in the rear. The front suspension features Dual A-Arms with 9-inches of suspension travel. Coupling the front and rear suspension with a 77-inch long wheelbase, pre-load adjustable ZF Sachs Shocks on all four corners and exclusive front and rear anti-sway bars that keep the chassis flat while cornering, gives the RANGER RZR 570 the ability to soak up anything the trail can throw in its way.

Since the launch of the RANGER RZR 800 in 2008, Polaris has been the only manufacturer to offer a trail-capable Side-by-Side. At 50 inches wide, the RANGER RZR 570 is the second trail-capable model in the family. Built with the patented design that places the engine behind the seat, the RANGER RZR 570 has a low center of gravity delivering agile, razor-sharp handling on the trail. When the trail gets rough, the vehicle’s True All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system puts the 50-inch width to work in and out of corners. It’s the easiest-to-use and fastest responding on-demand system that automatically engages all four wheels when forward traction is needed and it reverts back to two-wheel drive automatically when AWD is no longer needed. The system provides easier steering, less wear and tear on driveline components, and maximum power when you need it most.

For comfort, RANGER RZR 570 also sports comfortable ergonomics with tilt steering offering the widest range of motion, adjustable hand rails and seats. As you guys will see Polaris has introduced a new Polaris 570 RZR but that's not it. They have also introduced a new line of on road Ranger's, a Diesel Ranger Crew, and some new color options along with a new Indy Red RZR4! On top of that there are numerous improvements to the existing line up. Polaris is not sleeping by any means!

I have more pics I will share tomorrow!

Yeah I know...these guys have set such a crazy pace for development and new platforms that its hard to keep making us happy over and over in terms of the sport rec segment. But trust me when I say I have a strong feeling that its possible we may see some late releases later this year or early next. I think the manufacturers are playing a chess game of sorts with one another. See if Polaris drops the RZR4 XP900 now then they immediately kill all sales of their current RZR4 model which is doing really well still. And until another manufacturer brings something that even competes with a RZR4 then whats the point??

With that said, don't think the Manu's aren't paying close attention to that 4 seat sport rec segment. And don't sleep on Kawasaki..... All I can say is its a great time to be in this industry. Manufacturers love the SXS market, they are developing bigger, faster and more reliable machines, and most importantly is that they are listening to the consumers. Especially the Southwest US based riders! So while I want to see new hot rods I am willing to wait as well.

Great article Joey! I am sure UTV Underground will be the first to let us know when a release date comes for a possible RZR XP 900 4?!?!?
