04/18/13 El Cajon, CA – Round 2 of the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series Southern California took place this last weekend, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park.

BRYAN OSBORN #854 SR1

Bryan Osborn in the Black Rhino/RacerX #854 only made it two laps into qualifying before suffering mechanical problems. “I worked for three weeks straight to change the motor out and get everything all good and then Friday I pulled the car out of the trailer to find that I had a coolant leak. I worked all day Friday to fix that. It was very disappointing but it happens, it’s racing” Osborn said. “I can’t thank Kenny Frost and Steven Weeks enough for their help, Eric Barron and all of my sponsors who support me each and every race”

ROGER DIAZ #785 RZR

In the RZR XP Stock Class, Roger “10-04” Diaz driving the #785 finished in 11th place out of 19 entrants.

“I had to upgrade all 4 axles after having broken 2 rears and a front axle all in the span of 5 months. Also we added Makin Trax suspension’s Silver Series shocks to 10-04 Racing. Kate, the dogs, and I made the drive from Mammoth and got to registration and tech right away to get some practice in on Friday. Unfortunately, I was only able to make one practice run, as the rest of the practice session we spent trying to MacGyver the stock exhaust to keep it from falling off! Exhaust sponsorship Needed!” Diaz stated. “First I have to thank my dad, he always jumps in with the small fixes on race day and keeps me on the track. STEVE “WHEELS” BUCARO #69 PILOT

Steve “Wheels” Bucaro driving the #69 Pilot finished First Place.

“In the heat race I made it to lap 6 of 6 and my drive belt shred as I came to the rhythm section. In the main event I started dead last in the field of 25 cars, (20 XP900's, 5 Adult Trophy Karts) and managed to finish 13th in this stacked field. That wasn't without a few scary moments but I just kept pushing to pass as many as I possibly could by lap 14.” Wheels recalled. “I have to thank Amelia, Fransisco, Carlos, the whole Black Rhino/Racer X Team and a whole lot of friends supporting me! I put my helmet on with a huge smile and take it off after each race with a bigger one! Thank you to everyone for the help and support! Nothing is possible without you all!!! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!”

CODY RAHDERS #716 XP900/#16 PROLITE

In what is turning out to be the ultra competitive Stock RZR XP UTV class Superchips driver Cody Rahders finished out Round 2 in second place in his Magnum Offroad/UTVunderground.com/Polaris XP900 and sits just 4 points out of first.

During qualifying Cody went out and battled with former SuperLite rival Sheldon Creed with the two trading positions several times over the six lap time trial, in the end Cody qualified third place.

“Sheldon and I raced trucks against each other last year so I know he won’t do anything sketchy. We leaned on each other in the corners a couple of times, it was so fun.”

For the main 19 XP’s lined up with Cody inside row two and when the green flag flew the class went through a major restacking that saw 4 different leaders during the 14 lap race and while Cody was leading at one point due to the leader coming to a near stop in front of him during a local yellow flag, it was hit him or go around. In the end he was ordered by the Lucas staff to give the position back but in doing so he ended up losing two places and had to battle back to finish the race out in 2ndplace.

"I lost a race at Surprise for checking up on a local caution so when the leader checked I didn't want to run into him so I took it and raced on...oh well, after a race like that 2nd is great. Huge thanks to ITP for the new tires, that was definitely the right tire for this track."

Round 2 of the Regional Series also saw Cody make his debut in the #16 Black Rhino/RacerX/ProLite and as excited Cody was to race the freshly converted to V8 vehicle it still needed some fine tuning to be a truly competitive. The R3motorsports crew spent the weekend trying to correct fuel delivery, suspension, and steering issues and while the truck was good enough for Cody to qualify 9th out of 17 entries on lap two of the main the steering issues resurfaced and Cody ended up in a 3 round barrel roll on the front straight.

“All I remember was keep it out of the stands, the truck stepped out so quick and the power steering was slow, that was the worst crash I’ve ever had, it really hurt, somehow I even broke the brake pedal off. We have a lot of work to do to get the truck working the way I want to drive it.”

Given the violence of the wreck, Cody’s lapse of memory during the event, and his past brain injury we are playing it safe and benching him for a few weeks to allow his head to heal. We can fix the truck but his health is paramount, due to this restriction he will be forced to miss Round 4 of the WORCS series this upcoming weekend.

Kenny “Frosty” Frost driving the Black Rhino/RacerX #876 finished 6th place. “I started in 7th and after spinning out twice in the same spot I ended the day with a 6th place finish. Not bad! The track was very, very wet. I feel more and more comfortable every time I drive this car” Frosty recalled. “I worked my butt off! Now it’s time for Jessie (Morgan) to get back in her car and kick some butt! Huge thanks to Jessie and Steven, my wife Sandy and Ryan Beat.”
