01/31/13 El Cajon, CA â€“ To describe Round 1 of the WORCS race in just two words, "mud bath". Conditions were good Friday for practice and qualifying. The teams woke up on race day looking out the window and seeing the conditions they would be facing later that day. The entire camp area was a mud hole; there was a two foot deep river flowing right through the pits by vendor row. Race time came around and the rain was still coming down.

MICHAEL GONZALEZ #626

[FONT=&quot]As the green flag dropped it was a mud bog drag into the first turn where the #626 came out in sixth place. Gonzalez recalled that dayâ€™s race, â€œThere arenâ€™t many words that can describe that track, it was a complete mud fest! My visor was completely covered by turn three and tear offs were useless. I was forced to lift up my visor and push on. I pushed and fought my way through the pack while getting mud, rocks, and muddy water piled in my eyes. Lap after lap my vision got worse and worse but I continued on half blind and made my way into third place. By the final lap my vision was slim; there was so much crud in my eyes that I could barely keep them open. My left eye was blacked out and my right eye was just a big blur. I am honestly surprised I made it through the final lap the way my vision was.â€

Gonzalez will command over 20 races this season racing in WORCS, The Dirt Series, Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series and SCORE. â€œI am very happy to have come out of this weekendâ€™s race with a solid third place finish in my first Prod 1000 race. I canâ€™t thank my sponsors enough for getting me where I am at today! My plans are to podium every race I enter this year. With the help of my sponsors I know we as a team can achieve that goal!â€ Gonzalez said.

To understand Michaelâ€™s passion you have to know the history behind it. Michaelâ€™s sister and brother, Amanda and Jacob, were killed in a UTV accident in Glamis in November of 2007. Michael, just 11 years old at the time, was witness to the accident and helped to pull his siblings out and watch as bystanders performed CPR until the medics arrived. The UTV he now races is his siblings old Rhino.

Gonzales was 2<sup>nd</sup> in Championship Points in the WORCS 700 Series in 2010 and 2<sup>nd</sup> in Championship points in The Dirt Series 2012.

CODY RAHDERS #816

As the R3 crew made the 6 hour drive early Saturday morning to Peoria AZ for Round 1 of WORCS it never stopped raining the whole drive, it was going to be a long day. While most racers sat out the sighting lap Cody ran it to take a look at what he was in for.

After returning to the pits he stated â€œItâ€™s going to be bad. I though Glen Helen (Round 1 of 2012) was bad, I wish it was that nice today, itâ€™s really bad out there, Iâ€™m so glad we brought the old car and saved the new 570 for the next race.â€

One thing really surprised us when we lined up, no Yamaha Rhinos. Guess the 2012 title winning RZR570 was the last nail in the Rhino coffin.

After some discussion of moving up to the 850 class it was decided to stay in 700 at least for the day and see where Cody and the RZR570 were at against both the 700 & 850 classes.

At the start Cody rounded turn one in secondâ€¦until the first big stream crossing.

â€œWe hit that water pretty fast and something got wet, my engine started cutting out and even though it was running bad I could still stay with the leader so I know were good on power.â€

However, halfway through the first lap Cody let the leader go and went into survival mode.

â€œThe engine would clean up between puddles but after awhile I decided better not break my new engine and just finish. I was trying to keep my speed up, hit something, went off the track and got stuck. I got out, somehow got my car out by myself, and managed to finish in 2<sup>nd</sup> place. Thatâ€™s was rough but Iâ€™ll take it.â€

Round 2 is at Primm, NV. It is the only WORCS race Cody DNFâ€™d last season so heâ€™s looking for a better finish this year.

Driver of the #7 Greg Row took 3rd in the Pro Production class. â€œRound 1 of WORCs and what a race!! Podium!!!! Rain and flood conditions were insane. The Fusion, Black Rhino, Alba Racing, TireBlocks, UNI, RND Motorsports, Fine Line Graphics, Maxima, FUTV, RacerX, Rigid Industries, Summers Bros backed Polaris XP was ripping!! Alba built and dyno'd the motor and it never missed a beat; even in extreme conditions like this. Then the DWTs and Tireblocks smoothed the course right out. There was water flowing in the washes 3 feet deep. It was like Blackwater 100!!!!!â€ stated Row.

JACOB SHAW #191

Jacob Shaw driving the #191 in the Prod 1000 class was a victim of the extreme conditions; with his vision obstructed and the muddy track, he ended up sideways stopping in a lake. He was done for the day.
